English Abstract

The purpose of the present thesis is to demonstrate that Iranian foreign policy is ambiguous.

It describes this aspect of ambiguity in terms of Iran’s contradictory attitudes of resistance and cooperation.

In analyzing the factors that influence the policy of cooperation, the dissertation relies on Holsti s theoretical framework.

The revolutionary foreign policy, on the other hand, constitutes a source of legitimacy for the regime in Iran.

Finally, the Iranian nuclear policy illustrates for the aspect of ambiguity in the Iranian foreign policy.
