English Abstract

There was a noticeable flux of publications: literary, political, journalistic, and other works provided to produce their contributions and commentaries on the First Gulf War.

Sometimes authors told their own memories using some witnesses from the opposite side (Iraqi people or soldiers who were involved in the war), the authors say that they are telling the true stories of what happened during the war.

Whereas some of reviews criticizing these texts claim that those writers gave the public just the type of fantastic stories they wanted them to believe, rather than giving true stories about their real experiences and so that others could learn from.

In this research work, two modern British novels have been chosen: Andy McNab's Bravo Two Zero (1993) and Frederick Forsyth's The Fist of God (1994).

These two novels tackle the Gulf War, everyone in its particular way of describing the incidents during the war in the texts, and the effects of this war, on both sides British and Iraqi and how they respond to the represented experiences.

Regarding Bravo Two Zero, it is about a British soldier called (Sean Bean) whose nickname is Andy McNab; of course, he is the writer of the story.

He led a patrol of eight members who belonging to theBritish Special Air ServicesinsideIraqto take down Iraq's growing arsenal of Scud missiles.

The mission failed because of different circumstances; details will be explained in this research.

The second one is The Fist of God that details an intelligent effort that has been taken by the CIA, the Mossad and the British intelligence to find a suspected Iraqi chemical and nuclear weapon.

Thus, it is important to know how Western writers, especially British or American have dealt with this kind of issues through their literary productions, and what they wanted to communicate to the public.

Whether what they presented is acceptable for us as Arab readers or not and whether we agree with their own representation of war or not is an important different issue that has become the topic of our work
