Beta - irradiation effects on the microstructure of IIDPE samples have been investigated using Positron Annihilation Lifetime Technique (PALT).

The irradiation effects on the ortho-positronium (o-ps) Lifetime τ3.

the free positron annihilation lifetime τ2.

the free-volume hole size (Vh) and the free volume fraction (fh) were measured as functions of Beta irradiation - dose up to a total dose of 30.

28 kGy.

The results show that the value of τ3.

Vh and fh, increase with increasing Beta dose up to a total dose of 3.1 kGy.

with maximum percentage of changes of 36% .

75% and 12.5% , respectively .

where τ2 reaches its maximum value at 0.227 kGy Beta-dose with increment of 177.1%.

Above those doses the values show nonlinearity changes up to a maximum Beta-dose of 30.28 kGy.

The results disussed in viewpoint of Beta - irradiation induce degradation, cross-linking and increasing crystallinity in the amorphous regions of MDPE
