A scattering chamber facility has been built at the KFUPM 350 kV accelerator to carry out charged particles reaction studies at sub-coulomb energies.

It basically consists of a 35 cm x 35 cm x 27 cm (width x length x height) rectangular chamber which allows the placement of up to a maximum of 8 semiconductor detectors simultaneously on either side of the beam axis for angular distribution measurements.

The positioning of the detectors can be achieved with an accuracy of 0.1 degree.

The carbon build up on the target is minimized by cooling the beam collimator in front of the target down to liquid nitrogen temperature.

A Faraday cup mounted at the end of the chamber is used to measure the beam transmitted through the target for incident particle flux calculations.

The performance of the chamber has been tested by measuring the angular distribution of 12C(d,p0)13C reaction at 300 keV deuteron energy.

The data at this energy have been measured for the first time.

The trends of the measured differential cross section of 12C(d,p0)13C at 300 keV are consistent with the published data at 410 keV deuteron energy.
