Multispectral Landsat TM data of the Arabian Gulf oil Spill 1991 was analyzed for mapping of oil concentrations (thickness) present in the slick.

The analysis consisted of color compositing of the TM bands as well as decorrelation stretching of this data.

The technique of decorrelation stretch enhanced the subtle spectral reflectance variations in the slick and made it possible to map different oil concentrations.
