Abstract EN

Due to the burning of Kuwaiti oil wells, thousands of tons of smoke have been added to the atmosphere.

In this paper, the possible impacts of this catastrophe on the atmospheric conditions are studied, specifically meteorological parameters.

These vital parameters are used to study and estimate the Planetary Boundary Layer (PBL) height, Anomalous Propagation (AP) phenomena and their impact on the radar coverage.

In general, a substantial decline in PBL height is noticed.

Furthermore, anomalous propagation phenomena due to these changes are analyzed at the surface as well as in the elevated form.

Demonstration of the radar performance accounting the above changes are exhibited using electromagnetic parabolic equation (EMPE) model.
