Abstract EN

Currents and vortices in the ocean induce electromagnetic fields.

Measurements of these fields can he used for investigating ocean features, such as fluid velocities and electrical conductivity structures, or even for geological prospecting.

Deter-mining the fields induced by streams is a complex boundary value problem.

The paper begins with a general discussion of this subject and then shows how to find the induced electric field in the case that the stream is a circular vortex or a linear current.
