Abstract EN

Male factor was noted to be responsible for 30-50% of the cases of infertility.

Seminal analysis is the most common method of assessing these factor important clinical decisions such as treatment by artificial insemination.

In vitro fertilization (IVF) and treating the female arc influenced by subjective estimates of fertility.

Prognosis inferred from conventional semen analysis Our objective was to determine the percentage of men in an infertile relationship having a semen abnormality the average value of each semen parameter and the distribution of abnormal semen parameters.

The study was carried out on 1019 infertile males attending the infertility clinic during 1992-1995.

They were either primary (78.8%) or secondary (21 .2%) infertile with variable duration of infertility ranging from 1 to 33years.

The majority of those patients (83.5%) were in the third and fourth decades (20-40 years).

no correlation could be detected between the duration of abstinence and other semen analysis parameters .The majority of patients (7.3.2%) had normal semen volumes (2-6 ml) A significant (P<0.001) correlation could be found between the semen volume and the percentage of abnormal forms.

Semen viscosity was found to normal in.

96.8% of cases Azoospermia represented 21.1%, oligozoospermia 29.9% polyzoospermia 0 .7%, and normal sperm count 48.3% of the cases Another correlation was noted between the sperm count, motility, percentage of abnormal forms and pus ceils (P < 0.001).

furthermore, the majority of patient had asthenzoospermia (63.6%) while the percentage of patients with 100% immotile sperms was 3.6% In addition, a significant (P<0.

001) correlation existed, between the sperm motility and both percentage of abnormal forms and pus cells, .teratozoospermia was observed in only (63.6%) of the cases.

The mean percentage of abnormal forms was (28.66 %).

A significant (

Pyospermia was recorded in only 4.03% of the causes to determine the semen quality changes among the same population and compare semen quality in different country populations.
