English Abstract
Heterocyclic azo compound has great interest for various reasons , it gains much attention for use as models of biological systems , antifungal and as dyes.
Furthermore , it occupy an important position as analytical reagents.
In the present work we prepared four new azo ligands (L1-L4) and characterized by I.R and UV-Vis spectra.
The ligands L1 and L4 also were characterized by Gc/ mass spectra.
The reaction mechanism of the formation of azo ligands (L1-L4) from 4- aminoantipyrine was taken place as follows :- N N CH3 O H3C ph NH2 N N CH3 O H3C ph N NHSO4 N N CH3 O H3C ph N N A B C E D 100/0 NaNO2 Conc.
H2SO4(50C) (50C) Coupling agent NaOH(pH= 6-7) L1, A = B = D = H, C = E = OH 2-(Antipyrin azo) resorcinol L2, A= B = H , C = D = E = OH 4-( Antipyrin azo) pyrogallol L3,A=D=H, B=COOH, C=OH, E=NH2 6-(Antipyrinazo)-4-Amino Salicylic Acid L4,A = B = D = H ,C = NH2,E = OH 2-(Antipyrin azo)-3-amino phenol Several new complexes of Y(III), La(III), Ce(III), Nd(III), Eu(III), Tb(III) with new azo ligands (L1-L4) were also prepared .
All preparations were performed after fixing the optimum pH and molar concentration that obeyed Lambert-Beer's law in the studies pH ranges .
The structure of these complexes were deduced according to the molar ratio and Job methods, which were obtained from the spectroscopic studies of the Abstract II complex solutions of the above ions.
However, ratios of 1 : 3 , metal : ligand were obtained .
The percentage of the metals in the complexes have been measured by I.C.P technique .
Micro elemental analysis C.H.N for some of these complexes were also deduced.
Percentage of chloride, nitrate and sulphate ion have also been found by using "Mohr method and Spectrophotometric method" Conductivity measurements have shown non-ionic character for solution of Ce(III) complexes with all the ligands in ethanol and DMF, while Y (III) , La (III), Nd (III) , Eu (III) , Tb(III) complex solution gave indication of (1:2) ionic character with all ligands.
The magnetic susceptibility measurements for all Y (III) , La (III) complexes exhibit diamagnetic behavior , while paramagnetic properties were recorded for all other complexes.
In addition the dyeing performance of the prepared ligands and some of the prepared complexes was assessed .The dyes were tested for light and detergent fastness.
Study of biological activities of the prepared ligands and some of the prepared complexes have also been performed .
Most of the ligands and complexes exhibit good bacterial activities
