English Abstract
This thesis presents almost a comprehensive survey of reliability theory of the binary coherent system models, and discusses approaches to model a multistate system with multistate components using binary coherent system.
Three such approaches are considered given by the pioneers Barlow and Wu [3], Natvig [21],and Block and Savits [5].
They are studied thoughtfully and explored extensively.
Several new results are established concerning the stochastic performance of the system, performance function and measure of component importance, also obtaining bounds on both the system performance distribution and the performance function .
An application example given by Boedigheimer and Kapur [ 7 ] is also considered.
