Abstract EN
A study on 200 female university students was carried out to determine their weight status.
Using body mass index (BMI), 24% and 7.5% of students were overweight and obese, respectively.
There was no significant association between BMI and age of students.
The prevalence of obesity is increasing rapidly in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) especially among females.
Musaiger and Radwan 1 found that there are many social and dietary factors associated with obesity in female university students in the UAE.
Studies 2,3 showed that overweight and obesity are related to morbidity and mortality due to some diseases.
The present paper aims to investigate the prevalence of overweight and obesity among female students of the United Arab Emirates University (UAE University)
