Objective : To determine the prevalence of Negative .Sympt.oms among Chronic Schizophrenic Palients in Bahrain.
Study Design : A random sample of 40 out of 240 patients diagnosed as chronic schizophrenia according to DSM-IV classification.
Setting : Out-Patient Department at the Psychiatric Hospital in Bahrain.
Results : Items that measure the Negative Symptoms of" Andedonia and Associabilit.y" scored strong con·elation while items measuring II Attention and Intellectual function II sc(wed mode1·ately strong correlation.
Conclusion : Results show·ed that the ~ega ti ve Symptoms occur in schizophrenia 1·egardless of the stage of illness.
