The seed germination of four red Jumper (Juniperus pliocnu ia I.
) provenances was studied to determine the pretreatment which give higher ratio of seed germination, and the cffect ol germination conditions.
For this, two tests have been done in growth room and a third test has beer cffectued in nursery under natural conditions.
Two of the four provenances are coastal (Mchdia, Es-saouira) and the two other are continental (Toufliht.
Bcrkine) The pretreatments consist of seed immersion with different soaking times in sulfuric acid at 90 % and boiled water at 100 °C, and sect stratification in cold during 30 and 45 days.
Seed immersion in sulfuric acid during 15 minutes anc boiled water during I and 5 minutes and seed stratification for 30 days has increased significant!)) seed germination of all provenances.
Seeds from semi-aride bioclimatc arc more resistant when immersed during 45 minutes in sulfuric acid and during 10 to 15 minutes in boiled water, and in stratfi-cation for 45 days.
For the seeds of all provenances the cffect of treatments varied according to conditions where test of germination was realised in growth room or in nursery

La germination des graines dc quatre provenances du genevrier rouge (Juniperus pliocniciti I etc etudiee en chambre de eroissanee et en pepiniere pour determiner le pretraitcinem donnant un taux elc de germination, et 1'impact des conditions dc germination.
Deux provenances cotieres : Mchdia cl Essaoui et deux contmentalcs : Toufliht et Bcrkinc ont etc ctudiees.
Lcs prctraitements consistent en une immcrsi> des graines a differcntcs durees de trcmpagc dans I'acide sulfuriquc a 90% et dans I'eau bouillante a 100° el une stralification des graines a 5°C pendant 30 et 45 jours.
L'immcrsion des graines dans I'acide sull'u que concentre pendant 15 minutes, le trailement a I'eau chaude pendant I et 5 minutes et la stratification c graines pendant 30 jours permettcnt d'obtenir lcs laux dc germination lcs plus clcvcs.
Mais ces taux varic selon lcs provenances.
Les graines des provenances du semi-aride sont plus resistantes a la durcc d'lmmi sion de 45 minutes dans I'acide sulfurique et de 10 a 15 minutes dans I'eau bouillante et a la durcc de stra fication au Iroid dc 45 jours Pour toutes les provenances, lcs effets des prctraitements varicnt selon que test dc germination cst realise en chambre de eroissanee ou en pepiniere
