English Abstract

In the present work the Geiger Muller counter has been designed and built to monitor and alarm the background radiation with work stations of remote control in Baghdad.

The Geiger Muller Counter GM was made before and then new GM was obtained with its board electronic to convert detected of gamma rays to voltage signals.

These signals were transported to data acquisition device which converted them to a computer as a text file.

GMC-200 was an application to measure gamma radiation and beta particles and converting the data to CSV file which contains details of the radiation background like graphics and analyses for the nuclear measurements.

GMC-200 was manufactured in America by GQ Electronics.

GMC-200 which is connected to a computer is the basic unit in the work station and this computer upload the data every 5 minutes as an example to our website by the FTP files in the internet.

New software was used with additional feature of auto FTP data to the internet.

The present work was improved by two important features of alarm massage box and sound when the GMC-200 units detect dangerous data, and the other feature is to send an alarm to a list of e-mail addresses.

After collecting the data from the six work stations to the server data will display in the website: www.iraqienvironmentalmap.com.The photo of Baghdad’s map was put with signs of nuclear radiation in each position of the work stations.

Anyone can download all data in every work station by clicking on its sign.

In order to manage all these work stations without difficulties in transporting hundreds of kilometers and losing time and money, a new German software TeamViewer was used for remote control by computers and all options of GMC-200 in the work stations.

All the GMC-200 units can be reached by cellular phone and remote control in all the work stations, and the person who does that needs to know only the secret name of the system and its password.

The present work compared with other systems in the world like company of Nuclear Emergency Tracking Center (www.netc.com) which built large net of measuring radiation background in the United States of America and Japan, and netc.com used the GMC-200 device in their work stations that give us an excellence certification to be use in a large net all over Iraq.

The Iraqi Nuclear Emergency Tracking Center INETC has been established through this work.

Anyone can manage this system by computer and cellular phone or one of them to monitor radiation background and remote control by GMC-200 from any place in the world need only to know the secret name of the system and its password.

This present work can alarm any person by sending an e-mail to him.

The software of GMC-200 and TeamViewer were used with a good experience in order to obtain best results in 24 hours.
