English Abstract
In this work, an easy, low-cost, green, and environmentally friendlier reagents have been used to prepare, high quality CdS quantum dots (QDs), using chemical reaction method.
The samples have been prepared using different ratio of CdO and sulfur in paraffin liquid as solvent and oleic acid as the catalyst in different concentration and reaction time.
Many techniques have been used to test the samples and to study their optical properties and internal structure such as SEM, XRD, UV- visible absorption spectroscopic tests and emission spectroscopy.
The experimental results show that XRD spectrum have broad peaks that’s an indication to CdS nano crystals formation with small sizes.
From the results it can be concluded that such synthesized CdS QDs had the optimum reaction condition for Cd:S molar ratio is 1:1, 4 ml oleic acid concentration, reacting time at 6 minutes and high temperature in 180 0C.
The size distribution for the above optimum conditions of CdS QDs prepared equal to 9.24 nm.
