Abstract EN

Delayed graft function (DGF) is a common clinical problem occurring after cadaveric renal transplantation.

Acute tubular necrosis (ATN) is one of the main causes of the DGF.

Protracted recovery from ATN may continue for several weeks.

We describe a case of prolonged oliguric ATN that lasted for more than three months with complete recovery of renal function.

We discuss the contributing factors to the lengthy course of ATN and the known prophylactic and treatment strategies.
