Abstract AR
Abstract EN
This study was set to investigate the growth levels of reflective thinking among Al-Jouf University students, identify the differences in students’ levels of reflective thinking in terms of the gender variable and finally detect the correlation between the acquired level of reflective thinking and students’ GPAs.
The paper used the descriptive analytical approach to analyze the sample study of (N=1648) undergraduate students who follow their social and academic studies at the University’s colleges.
Students are in their fourth year; 1092 of them are in the men’s section and 566 students are in the women’s section.
A survey was designed and developed based on Kember’s RTQ (Kember et al., 2000) which comprises 4 levels: Habitual Action (HA); Understanding (U); Reflection (R) and Critical Reflection (CR).
Having conducted factor analysis and ensured its validity and reliability as well as suitability for the Saudi environment, the survey was administered to the study sample.
The study revealed that the overall level of reflective thinking among Al-Jouf University students has not reached the minimum level of 75%.
Also, findings showed a decline in all levels of reflective thinking amongst students in first, second and third years, but there is a growth in the fourth year.
The study reveals the presence of significant differences between males and females at all levels of reflective thinking in favor of males except for the Habitual Action level.
There is also positive correlation between student's GPA and level of reflective thinking.
