Abstract EN

The study aimed at investigat-ing the capacity of the Jordan labour market in the current and near future economic situa-tions.

Data and information were gathered from the Jorda-nian Ministry of Labour The jordanian Civil Service Bureau and other reliable sources, and were analysed and categorized by main economic activities, career, education and sex.

It was found that unemploy-ment rates are increasing drasti-cally since 1985, and this prob-lem relys on the labour demand side.

Most of the unemployed labour are technicians, special-ists, women and highly educated (skilled) forces, but most of the guest workers are unskilled.

This indicates that Jordan labour market is not expected to absorp most of specialists and technicians unemployed forces.

And also, it was found that there is no coordination he-tween education policies and national development plans.

Therefore, it is recommended to expand in retraining programs to cope with the new market needs.

Encourage unemployed forces to open their own businesses and to be financed mainly by specialized funds.

Conduct feasible field surveys to find out the possibility of sub-stituting guest workers by Jordanian unemployed forces.

Education policies have to be coordinated with national de-velopment plans.

A dynamic labour force should be kept in mind for the purpose of export in some diffi-cult economic situations.
