Abstract EN

International relations is a discipline of growing importance to the scholars and practitioners as well, since it deals with the interactions amongst political communities all over the world .

In an attempt to present a general introduction to the study of international relations, this paper consists of 3chapters.

The first chap-ter examines the history of international relations from the Greco -Roman age to the modern ages, as well as defining the term " International relations " and discussing the ties between International relations and political science .

The second chapter, entitled " a study in war and peace " argues that the crux of international interactions recolied around these 2 phenomenas.

Hence, it discusses war and the strategic aspects of international relations as well as peace and diplomacy .

Finally , the third chapter consists of 3 parts discussing such concepts as power and power politics, balance of power and the relation between the national intrests of the states and the International system respectively .
