Laughter is a human phenomenon that all people share in all communities.

They made use of comics, in all of its types like witticisms, jokes and comedies, as a way to shape the comic canon.

Philosophers, physicists and critics have tried to formulate a definition of ‘the funny’, and to build theories to explain this phenomenon that answers the question:" What makes ‘the funny’ funny?", or: "Why ‘the funny’ makes us laugh?".

Therefore, what are the methods of creating ‘the funny’? Early in the last century, the French philosopher, Bergson, was one of the founders of the theories in this topic.

His answer of the first question was: That ‘the funny’ - in its different forms - has one major influence, which, if found in farces, leads us to laughter.

This effect is the obstinacy, the mechanism and the astonishment.

This triggers the answer to the second question; that is by the use of this factor, we can produce a funny work.

This research is based on the following hypothesis: Bergson's theory is suitable to explain humor in Al- Jahez’s literature, and can guide us to the reason that makes it funny.
