Abstract EN
This work deals with the defensive fortifications in Bejaia, in central Maghrib, during the Islamic era since its foundation in (460 H /1067 G) during the reign of Annaser Bin Ainas £1 Hammadi; after the destruction of the castle of Beni Hammad in Msila until the end of the Ottomay rule.
The study includes all castles, forts, towers, fences, gates and others which remain standing today.
Chronicling each of the historical periods the city had witnessed in the Islamic era.
This study focuses on both historical and archaeological aspects of each of the remaining archaeological monuments, trying, thereby, to conclude the most important features that characterized the defensive fortifications of the city in question.
And on the development of defensive and offensive methods and the used siege tools.
These fortifications also reveal the degree of development in military architecture in Central Maghrib in terms of construction materials, and the establishment strategy.
It also provides us with a clear picture and a model of fortifications of Tslamic cities in Central Maghrib.
