Abstract EN

Al-Qassim is an agricultural region.

It produces dates and grains which are essential for the population.

Thus, any military campaign against the region would negatively affect the agriculture and consequently would have an impact on trade and business in th area.

Therefore, this paper traces the negative effects of Egypto-Ottoman campaigns which took place during the period 1815-1823, on agriculture and trade in the province of Al-Qassim.

In addition, this paper gives details about the high taxes imposed by the invaders on the local people.

This paper depends on the local families' documents which contain important economic information about the period under study.

This information allows the researcher to compare farms prices before and after the military campaign as well as the differences of loans' terms and conditions.

This paper, thus, provides an important information about the negative impacts of the military campaigns on the economic life of the region.

The paper also deals with a short period of time.

This gives the researcher the incentive to be more analytical and critical, in order to provide real contribution.
