English Abstract

The use of franchising as a tool for sustainable economic development in emerging markets has widely proved its success.

This business practice that has started in developed countries as a way to overcome market saturation is considered today as an instrument that transfers knowledge towards developing countries.

Governments of emerging countries over the world are ceasing this opportunity to build solid bases for their economy thanks to attracting international franchise networks to their grounds as well as developing national franchises.

Regulations within the emerging markets are subject to reforms in order to adapt the environment to the requirements needed to attract franchises.

This research focuses on the Moroccan market and the efforts of the Moroccan government towards attracting and developing the franchise system in the country.

A review of the reforms that have been undertaken in Morocco has been developed.

En evaluation of the Moroccan business environment by international institution has followed.

Though Moroccan government has made considerable efforts to make the franchising practice successful in the country, the research on hand shows that international franchises are welcomed.

Concerning the development of local franchises, the financial and legal environments that the country offers need to be revised in order to make the franchise a more accessible tool to be used by Moroccan entrepreneurs
