English Abstract

Aims: To examine the association between excessive internet use as an independent factor and mental and physical fatigue as a dependent variable among university students in Morocco.

Background: The Internet offers a unique way for social interaction and information retrieval.

While excessive Internet use has been demonstrated to be correlated with fatigue in nurses in Taiwan, no studies have scrutinize whether it is independently associated with fatigue among university students.

Methods: University students from a range of Moroccan cities were asked to complete a questionnaire containing demographic items, the Chen Internet Addiction Scale and the Chalder Fatigue Scale.

Multiple hierarchical linear regression analysis was performed using mental and physical fatigue as dependent variables.

Results: Excessive Internet use is significantly associated with both mental and physical fatigue levels in Moroccan university students even after adjusting for the covariates of program status, age, income levels, health status and work status.
