Examination of twenty seven eels, Anguilla anguilla, from Dakhalia province markets revealed that nineteen fish (70.3 %) were infected with swimbladder nematode, Anguillicola crassus,.
The later characterized by presence of well developed buccal capsule containing single row of 28 circumoral teeth, five pairs of male caudal papillae and long female tail.
Thickening of swimbladder wall, severe congestion, epithelial hyperplasia, oedema, cellular infiltration, fibrosis in wall of swimbladder and presence of adult worms and en-sheathed larvae in lumen and wall of swimbladder are the most prominent histopathological findings.
The prevalence, morphological features and histopath- olgical finding of Anguillicola crassus were illustrated and discussed fully in this study.
