Abstract EN

Defatted jojoba meals are toxic to the animal when offered at various concentrations.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of the defatted jojoba meal and detoxified defatted jojoba meal.

Two groups (2&3) of adult male albino rats were kept on a ration containing (3% and 6%) defatted meal respectively and another 2 groups (4and5) were kept on a ration containing (5% and 10%) detoxified defatted meal respectively for 8 successive weeks, group 1 was kept as control.

Groups feeding on defatted (3 & 6 %) and detoxified (10%) jojoba meal showed non-significant decrease in haematological parameters and a significant decrease in serum T.protein, albumin, T.

alpha and T.

beta globulin.

On other hand, there was increase in cholesterol, tri-glyceried, T.

lipid, AST, ALT and urea, no change found in glucose, calcium and phosphorous.

The group received 5% of detoxified meal revealed improve in weight gain, serum protein with no difference between the control and treated animals.

A thirty day feeding of detoxified jojoba meal at concentration 5% did not have any cytological influences on PCE /NCE ratio while at concentrations of 3% or 6% defatted jojoba meal and 10% detoxified jojoba meal a significant increase in the MPCE and PCE/NCE ratio was found
