English Abstract

The present study was carried out on twenty fresh kidneys of adult balady goats (10 right and 10 left) obtained form El-Basateen and Benha Slaughter Houses.

Casts of The renal veins were prepared by infusion the renal veins of each specimen with a mixture of chemoeboxy 150 resin In addition, part of the aorta and caudal vena cava of four adult clinically healthy balady goats were similarly infused to describe the origin, course, relation and distribution of both renal veins.

For description of the small branches and the capillary venules, pieces of 50 mm3 were taken from the prepared venous casts and examined with JEOL JSM-1000s scanning electron microscope.

The obtained results revealed that, each renal vein was divided before reaching the renal hilus into cranial and caudal branches.

Each one subdivided by various pattern inside the kidney.

Some tributaries of the renal vein presented circular constrictions that may regulate the velocity of the venous drainage.

Moreover, an established venous anastomosis was detected inside the renal medulla and around the corticomed- ullary junction.

The renal cortex of the kidney contained multiple independent inverted cone-shaped cortical plexuses.

Each plexus has a core of an interlobular vein enmeshed in a complex capillary network that may face the arterial bed of the efferent arterioles.

The superficial terminations of the cortical plexuses under the renal capsule were represented by tapered spur-like projections that may drain the outer part of the cortex.
