Incidence of some tissue helminth parasites of fish in Egypt

The present study was carried out on 420 specimens of fresh water fishes (240 Tilapia sp.

and 180 Clarias lazera) and 280 specimens of marine fishes (200 Saurus tumbil and 80 Epinephelus gigas) collected from Sharkia and Mattroh Provinces respectively, Egypt.

The study revealed 3 different encysted digenetic trematodes Diplostomum paracaudum, Clinostomum complanatum and Euclinostomum heterostomum in a percentage of 1.7%, 7.9% and 5.4% respectively.

Meanwhile one cestode larva; pleurocerchus larva of Trypanoryn¬cha, is recorded in a percentage of 8%.

In addition, the infection rate of recorded nematode larvae were 40% Contracoaum sp.

and 1.5% Gnathostomum sp.

Epinephelus gigas was found to be the only host for trematode live in cyst 55%.

The effect of seasonal dynamics on the infection rate of obtained parasites is discussed where the peak of infestation rate was in Spring (32.4%) while the lowest one was in Autumn (20.6%).

Also, the morphological features of recorded parasites are described.
