Abstract EN

The life of Jesus Christ, including his character, teachings, actions, and crucifixion, represents for Palestinian poets a rich introduction to certain religious dimensions that unified the poets' individual and collective experiences.

For these poets, the life of Jesus symbolizes the slaughtered Palestinian, whose blood lights the darkness of the world, and who also symbolizes the human desire to conquer the forces of evil which are corrupting the earth.

But the Palestinian poets' utilization of the life of Jesus Christ often shocks the reader with the use of non-traditional religious themes to express the moral and cultural crisis which modern man is experiencing, and to portray his miserable, tortured soul.

For example, the portrayal of a Palestinian who refuses to be crucified even though his neck is sticking out for sacrifice at any time is a common theme.

Similarly, baptism with blood and fire has also become a popular image in contemporary Palestinian poetry.

This research aims to examine the influence of the New Testament on contemporary Palestinian poetry first by looking for religious symbols, themes and images and how these interact with the text, and second by analyzing the poetic text linguistically to explore the themes that lie under the language, imagery , music, etc
