English Abstract

Gram-negative bacteria producing VIM-type metallo--lactamases (MBLs) are increasingly isolated worldwide.

A strain called Adn01 was isolated and phenotypic tests attributed this strain to the genus Serratia.

Combined disc tests using carbapenems with and without EDTA on the same plate demonstrated the production of metallo--lactamase (MBL).

This strain harbors a mega-plasmid mediated antibiotic resistance genes that demonstrated its transferability to an E.

coli competent strain.

coli transformants become resistant to some antibiotics as do the wild type in comparison to the non transformant E.

Integrons sequences were used to design primers sets.

Standard polymerase chain reaction (PCR) conditions were used to amplify several antibiotic resistance genes belonging to the KPC family of nonmetallo carbapenemases class A (NMC-A); class B metallo beta lactamase enzyme of VIM family and a beta lactamase gene of class C cephalosporinases (AmpC) coding for carbapenemases, extended-spectrum -lactamases (ESBLs).

Demonstration of such resistance genes related to VIM-type metallo--lactamases (MBLs) contained in a mega-plasmid from the isolated Adn01 strain is demonstrated in the first time in this study.
