English Abstract

A construction project is a combined work of many people from different specialties where coordination, precision, and efficiency are mandatory.

ARC-Assist is a software product the goal of which is to assist the architect in the major steps involved in construction engineering.

Its main concern is to help the architect in the follow-up and supervision of the overall engineering steps.

ARC-Assist was developed as a response to practical problems encountered by some architects.

ARC-Assist gives a significant consideration to construction management and handles the supervision of tasks and cost evolution of a given construction.

ARC-Assist was realized in cooperation with a team of experts in the construction domain and tested and evaluated by several architects.

This report retraces the steps of the engineering of ARC-Assist, namely the requirements definition and specifications, the project management, the design, and the implementation.

The Repository Model has been adopted for the design of ARC-Assist, whereby a common database is used to contain construction elements.

As for the graphical user interface, the Evolutionary Prototyping technique has been used.

Moreover, Albrecht's technique [1] has been considered to evaluate the quality and cost of ARC-Assist.
