English Abstract

The development of renewable energies is one of the main topics that many researchers are working on; in fact, this is what will insure the future’s energy.

Photovoltaic cells are one of the most important concerns in those researches as the Sun is considered as the major source of all energies.

This type of technology keeps growing with an average of 50% as an annual growth [32].

There exist many types of photovoltaic cells, the ones studied in this project are: the mono-crystalline silicon, the poly-crystalline silicon and the amorphous silicon.

The aim of this thesis work is to determine the PV type that gives the higher power output in the region of Ifrane.

For this purpose, the study was divided into three main parts; the first one consisted of the installation steps that were followed to set up the plant.

The second one dealt with a computer simulation which calculated the predicted energy output for each PV type, and presented a PV application done with C# which enables either the sizing of a new photovoltaic plants or the computation of the predicted energy output of a PV plant in the region of Ifrane.

The third part of this research relates to the real power output of the three types of PVs which were compared to what computer simulation predicted.

The results of this research showed that what theory presents can be different from real experimental results, as it has been shown here in the region of Ifrane, poly-crystalline silicon is the type that produces more power compared to the other types and its performance ratio was found to be higher even if, in theory, mono-crystalline silicon has higher efficiency.

The research presented at the end some case studies from Al Akhawayn University which aimed sizing new photovoltaic plants for different types of buildings in order to reduce the total electric energy consumption of the university.
