Phytochemical investigation of the methanolic extract of the stem bark of Ficus bengalensis L.

(Moraceae) resulted in the isolation of two new phytoconstituents characterized as lanost-5,24- dien-3b-yl-b-D-glucopyranosid-20-O-yl-docos-1100-enoate (lanostadienylglucosyl cetoleate) (1) and 3b-acetoxy-stigmast-22-en-26-oic acid (bengalensisteroic acid ester) (2) together with the known compounds heneicosanyl cis-octadec-9-enoate (heneicosanyl oleate) (3), urs-12-en-3b-yl acetate (a-amyrin acetate) (4), and lup-20(29)-en-3b-ol (lupeol) (5).

The structures of these phytoconstituents have been established on the basis of spectral data analysis, chemical reactions and comparison of literature.
