Abstract EN

This study aims to review the overall performance of the Jordanian economy, and assess the importance of the foreign and domestic savings and the financial gaps in economic growth.

This study attempts to determine the restrictions imposed on the performance of economic growth in Jordan, and provides its policy options.

Using Vector Autoregressive (VAR) methodology to estimate the behavioral equations and the three gaps, the results showed that the financial gap is the biggest constraint, and that the money supply has no impact on the budget deficit, and increase the level of world income to raise the demand for Jordanian exports and thus reducing the current account deficit.

The study recommends that the focus is on the financial gap to promote economic growth, reduction of debt and control of government current expenditure and focus on the development in spending which stimulates aggregate supply and increases the level of real prcxduction and development to make room for the private sector to promote local industry and encourage the foreign oriented exports, which entails control of the money supply according to the growth of real output of the economy.
