Abstract EN

An astounding number of tall buildings have been constructed over the past decade.

The debate about the true susta^ab؛؛ity of such tall buildings has become more animated over recent years as people have begun to ؟uestion both urban benefits of tall buildings and the؛، claim ١٠ efficiency.

As an approach to measure impact of an ex؛st؛ng building on the environment and energy use, several methods of building performance assessment have been developed.

In this paper one of these methods is presented for an existing commercial building at University of Arizona campus called University Services Building.

First step of this assessment was to document the building using different tools during a visit to the building.ه the documentation process, building occupants were also interviewed in order to understand how the building is used.

Information gathered from the documentation process was then entered in e-Quest, energy simulation software, which helped in identifying the components that contribute the most to energy usage in the building.

A set of strategies were then laid out depending on tile causes of energy waste.

It was found that by implementing suggested strategies, energy consumption can be rcduccd by 28.45"/o and around $64,046 can be saved annually.
