English Abstract
The purpose of this project has been to investigate the current state of PKI -Public Kt Infrastructure- technology and to evaluate and deploy the potential best components in ord^ to documents and comniunicate them 5ecurely ألا0لأةلا0آطآ an exposed network.
Digital signature technology^ ba5ed □n public key c^pto§raphy, h^^ been found to be tl appropriate mearïs of achieving this aim.
Digital certi^cates by themselves do little.
A moi complete PKJ solution is needed in order to provide ق basi؛> for believing that the signatui means ةomeاhinج of significance to the relying party.
To this end various open source products/prototypes have been evaluated and the be components have been integrated into the final solution.
Digital certiorates are generated أت؛ظnج OpenCA» and managed in LDAP -Lightweigl Directory Access Protocol- and stored in user smart card.
Documents and emails can th؛ be signed and sent securely, and checked for authentication upon r^eption.
Remote serve can access LDAP directory and retrieve ce^i^cat^, verify the identic of the authority ar load ١؛ as a trusted certificate or reject It.
The ^nal integrated component؟ have been ^uccess^lly used to sign and transmit documei over the Internet.
