Abstract EN

This study aimed at investigating the concept of social change, its primary motives and the vehicles used for change.

The study also seeks to understand the facts surrounding the Khaldouni thought in relation to social change and how much it correlates with the status of change in the Arab Spring countries.

It also seeks to understand the reality about the status of change in such countries, how much they were influenced by the Tunisian revolt and its consequences.

In this study, the researcher used the descriptive investigative approach through content analysis of reliable references and various studies depending on Ibn Khaldouns introduction as a basis for the study of social change.

The researcher made sure that the analysis was careful and comprehensive attempting to arrive at the opinions of some of the modern sociologists through comparisons and contrasts.

The study reached several conclusions which include the following: Social change differs from other kinds of change.

This happens as an internal party of the social make up of the society as a result of interactions that take place within the society itself or externally as a result of communication with other societies.

As stated in Ibn Khaldoun's introduction, social change does not come for no obvious reason, it does not suddenly happen but rather comes as an inevitable consequence of injustice, prosperity and deterioration of economic conditions.

Ibn Khaldoun also emphasized on the inevitability of change for societies from one case to another and the consequences that would have to accompany such change.

This is the same idea that still exists in our contemporary Arab societies.
