English Abstract
In this project, we present a multi-agent architecture for facilitating the sale of clearance articles over the Internet.
This agent-based system incorporates automatic bargaining of clearance prices and commissions.
The overall system consists of a single Central Agent (CA) interfaced with the web server of the clearance site and working on behalf of a clearance company, and a set of Remote Agents (RA) interfacing with specific businesses and representing product manufacturers/retailers.
Our architecture facilitates web-based clearance sale of different companies’ articles from a single site.
Remote Agents (RA) act on behalf of specific companies.
Given a company’s product, which is to be sold as clearance, the RA of that company negotiates the commission and selling price of the item with the Central Agent (CA).
The CA makes sale of that item available on its own web page, and accepts sale orders, which are returned to the RA of the original company.
Before completion of a sale transaction, there is no dynamic interaction between the customer and the company; this is handled by communication between the RA and the CA.
The company handles actual payment and delivery, and pays the CA a commission for clearance objects sold on its site.
The message specification of the communication protocol between the CA and the RA’s is described using the Knowledge Query and Manipulation Language (KQML) and implemented using the Java Programming language.
The clearance web site was implemented using Servlet.
