English Abstract

Network management and moniloring are among the areas that generate most research in the networking field- Network administrators are concerned more and more about the results obtained from the network utilization.

Things like network resources availability, bandwidth utilization and network latency have become some of the metrics based on which the quality of a network is evaluated. Dell Computer Corporation wants to have a system for its IT staff to be able to monitor network devices, servers, and applications for avail ability and performance.

This system needs to be present on each employee’s machine in order to produce a view of the network from cach employee’s perspective. To answer the needs of Dell we have proposed an agentless network monitoring system that we would design and develop, Wc have meant by the system to be agentless in order to avoid having the need to deploy aiid maintain the agents on the servers we want to monitor.

Our system will be present on each employee’s machitie which means availability and performance monitoring would be conducted from the staff perspectives on the resources they are reliant on, which will permit gathering data on how each network user views the network. The solution relies highly on data warehousing for being able to keep historical monitoring data available and optimised for querying and analysis.

Even though die current status of the network is important to know, not being able to compare it with some ref erence considerably reduces its usefulness.

The results of queries applied on the OLAP data are provided to the user in the fbnn of dynamical and parameteri/^le reports, charts, and graphs. l‘he system wc have proposed will increase business performance and minimize network facilities down time.

A5 most business processes at Dell are highly reliant on network facilities, this solution will ensure a small issue resolution lime.

As it keeps monitoring data in its data warehouse, future data analysis and inspection is possible.

The proposed solution will also serve as a way of planning for business services migration to Casablanca since it permits a detailed inspection of the network performance in Dell Casablanca.
