English Abstract

Today, security breaches are considered as the most serious risk facing the world’s economic sectors.

Although there is progress in information security science and its technology, there is no risk free due to unknown future from IT infrastructure threats.

Risk Management tries to answer these challenges in predicting the future and learning from the past by the usage of key risk indicators, which is a forecasting technique to diagnose incidents factors and recommended solutions.

This thesis defines the need for such indicators.

It also includes reviewing previous work and highlighting the importance of risk indicators.

Researcher introduce a proposed model to derive key risk indicators by using appetite and tolerance in order to prepare defenses against potential types of threats and solve defined gaps inside information technology environment in banks.

This thesis also reviews the challenges faced by banks in their way for protecting clients’ data against inside or outside threats, as well as evaluate the proposed model by bank experts to come up with results and conclusions.

The evaluation's result of the proposed model approach for deriving key risk indicators for information technology environment came to underline the importance of key risk indicators as a proactive method to forecast and mitigate potential risks surrounding information technology operations and threatening data security.
