Abstract EN

This paper deals with sounds in Arabic and Tama languages, It tries to describe and trace vowel and consonants sounds, it highlights a system of word structure, The paper fallows the constrictive method, the Paper has been divided in two parts, part one deals with vowel and consonant sounds in both languages, and part two, deals with system of syllable in Tama language, and its role in word structure, The study has come up with the following important results: that both languages are same in the system of vowels, but Arabic is characterized by the use of consonants: /θ/,/ɦ/,/ð/,/ɖ/,/ʐ/,/q/but it is not found in Tama language, Accordingly, we conclude from this that learners of Tama face difficulties in pronouncing them, but there are sounds which are unique to tama language such as:/ ɳ/،/ŋ/،/ny/.such sounds do not exist in Arabic and the study has presented the following recommendations: more attention should be paid to the study of Sudanese languages and highlighting their linguistic features as well as the study of tama language with emphasis on its grammatical structure
