Abstract EN

Peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM) is a rare disorder of dilated cardiomyopathy in which no other cause of heart dysfunction can be identifi ed within the fi nal trimester of pregnancy or within 5 months after delivery.

It is relatively rare but can be life threatening.

The National Hospital Discharge Survey (1990–2002) estimated that it occurs in one in every 2289 live births in the USA.

The disease appears to be more common in African-American women.

So this study aims to summarize the most recent management plans in the face of this serious and, relatively not uncommon, complication.
