Abstract EN

This research is intended for female's engagement in UAE in terms of Islamic rules, applicable laws, and conventions followed by ancestors.

It is both objective and methodological study as well as practical research.

It included introduction, prelude, three areas of study, and a conclusion.

In addition to approved references and sources and indexes.

The introduction includes the opening, the importance of the subject matter, the reason behind selecting such a subject matter, the approach followed, and the research sources The prelude is consisted of two chapters: first, Management in terms of linguistic dimension in which I explained the meaning of engagement and the linguistic differences in Arabic culture, then I explained the meaning of engagement as it is seen by Islamic scholars, and its conclusions and the differences between engagement and marriage contraction.

Second, I explained the essence of family and its connotation, and the corresponding meaning to Holy Qur'an and the Prophetic norms.

The first area of study includes the legitimacy of engagement as reflected in Holy Qur'an, Prophetic norms, and Companions' deeds.

The second area of study includes The Emarati conventions and traditions of engagement, and the assessment from Islamic perspective.

They have several aspects.

The first aspect is that the criterion of selection is based on religion, morals, and good reputation.

The second aspect is the role of matchmaker.

The third aspect is endogamy.

The forth aspect is that the girl is not consulted nor has the right for disapproval.

Then I moved on to discuss the age by which girls got engaged.

It includes also the legitimacy of sight and its rightful rules, explaining the society vision in the past and present.

The third area of study was about the engagement results and the consequences of retreat with reference to dowry and awards.

The applicable laws in UAE are reviewed in the light of the above mentioned discussions.

Eventually, the conclusion includes the key results, recommendations, references, and conceptual indexes
