Treatment of natural infection in pigeons birds with coccidiosis by using ginger extract in Babylon Province

Twenty-five sample pigeon faeces were examined to detect the prevalence of natural infection of coccidiosis among these birds.

Out of 25 pigeons examined , 21 birds were found infected ( 84%) , 12 infected pigeons were males (85.7 % ) and 9 were female (81.8 %).

Flotation by zinc sulphate was the best method for diagnosis of the parasite oocystes in the faeces of the birds comparison to the direct examination, with significant differences was p >0.05.

The extract of ginger (Zingibar officinale ) exhibited high efficiency in treatment of infected pigeons with coccidiosis, and the highest efficiency 91 % was by using 10 % of the extract, with significant differences on level p > 0.05 comparison to that of 5% which was 70 %.
