Abstract EN

In the present study thirty two isolates of Aeromonas sobria were isolated from 744 samples collected from different sources, 6 isolates (1.35%) were obtained from 444 clinical sources from patients in different hospitals, 14 isolates (14%) from 100 fish samples and 12 isolates (6%) from 200 tap and aquarium water samples in Erbil province.

All isolates were identified depending on cultural, morphological, biochemical tests and confirmed by VITEK 2 compact systems.

Also the sensitivity of A.

sobria to twenty antimicrobials were studied and the results indicated that all isolates were 100% sensitive to azithromycin, cefixime, cefotaxime, azithromycin, ceftriaxone, chloramphenicol, ciprofloxacin, lincomycin, imipenem, meropenem, neomycin, nitrofurantoin, piperacillin and tobramycin, while it was 100% resistance to amoxicillin, amoxycillin+Clavulonic acid , cloxacillin and 88.88%, 75.2% and 58.72% of isolates were resistance to bacitracin, ampicillin and oxytetracycline respectively.

The ability of A.

sobria to form biofilm by using three methods (Slime layer, Microtiter plates assay and Air liquid interface) was studied.

The results showed that A.

sobria were 100%, 76.28% and 68.24% biofilm producer respectively.

On the other hand, PCR technique was used for detection of hemolysin activity by using two genes asa1 and ahh1.

The results showed that all isolated A.

sobria in all sources were positive for asa1gene, while ahh1gene was present in18.75% of the isolates.

According to these two above mentioned genes the isolated A.

sobria divided in to two genotypes which were asa1+ ahh1+ and asa1+ahh1-
