Some new 1,3-imidazolinone derivatives have been readily prepared by the condensation of oxazole-5-one derivatives (1 a-i) with benzocaine in glacial acetic acid.

The structures of the newly synthesized compounds were elucidated on the bases of their FTIR, 1H- and 13C –NMR spectral data.

Supplementary to these, they were assayed in vitro for their antibacterial activity; it was revealed that some synthesized derivatives were exhibiting competent biological activity against both gram negative and gram positive bacteria.
