The researcher presents the pioneering aspects of Imam Abu Jaafar atTahhawi (died ٣٢١H) in adopting the subject-based interpretation methodology in his book "The Judgements of the Quran" (Ahkam alQuran).

The pioneering aspects of his approach come under two main headings: Firstly; authorship in the Judgements of the Quran using this methodology; and secondly, in the early authorship in the realm of Subject-based Interpretation, and in investing this methodology in his interpretation.

In the process, the researcher reviews the biography of Abu Jaafar atTahhawi, and shows his methodology in his book "The Judgements of the Quran" (Ahkam alQuran), and balances between his methodology in approaching certain subjects against some modern research which attends to these subjects through research and investigation.

Unveiling this pioneering aspect is a scholarly contribution to the history of inception of Subject-based Interpretation, and its application specifically in the examination of the Judgements of the Quran.
