Towards a visibility of Algerian librariesin the social media era

Social media including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and others, now represent the new reality of communication and exchange of information and seem to provide more visibility to institutions anxious to be closer to their users. The present paper, based on a survey conducted at a national level, attempts to give a state of the art of how social media are used in Algerian academic librariesand attempt to know what are the barriers that prevent some of them to increase their presence both on the web and social media web sites.
