Abstract EN

The current research hankers after revealing the techniques of narrative in one of literary genres that is known for its distinctive characteristics which distinguish it from the rest of literary genres in Arabic literature.

That is because it is one of the arts that Arabs have taken from the west (occident) in the modern ages via what is called "muthaqafah" or the principle of "Impact and effect" which is considered one of the customs of world literature across ages .

this literary genre is (drama) including its poetic and prose types .

the researchers tackle in this study the analysis and description of the outstanding narrative techniques found in the prose play of " Flood " which is considered one of the most important and famous works of the Iraqi dramatist and playwright " Adel Khadim " .

this is based on the critiques of the French critic " G.

Genette " in the field of the narrative studies as the researchers believe that his critiques in this field is considered the most precise and organized ones and the most comprehensive among the critiques of others
