تتناول هذه الدراسة نتائج مشروع بحثي تم تطبيقه على الطلاب المستجدين ببرنامج اللغة الانجليزية في كلية المجتمع ببريدة- جامعة القصيم.
وقد أجريت الدراسة على مجموعة من الطلاب وعددهم 105 طالب كما اشترك في الدراسة 9 من المعلمين غير الناطقين باللغة العربية قاموا بتدريس البرنامج المقترح.
ويهدف المشروع البحثي إلى التحقق من فعالية البرنامج الأكاديمي المقترح في المساهمة في انتظام العملية التعليمية منذ اليوم الأول من الفصل الدراسي ولتقليل الفاقد في الموارد المالية والبشرية التي توفرها الجامعة للطلاب خلال الأسبوعين الأولين من الفصل الدراسي، بالإضافة إلى تأهيل الطلاب أكاديميا ومساعدتهم نحو التحول من البيئة التعليمية في التعليم الثانوي إلى بيئة التعليم الجامعي.
كما تهدف الدراسة أيضا إلى تحديد العوامل والممارسات المرتبطة بفعالية البرنامج المقترح وما يرتبط به من نقاط الضعف والقوة.
وقد أظهرت نتائج الدراسة من خلال الاستبيانات والمقابلات الشخصية والاختبارات القبلية والبعدية مع عينة الدراسة، وكذلك الملاحظات الصفية فعالية البرنامج المقترح في تحقيق انتظام العملية التعليمية منذ اليوم الأول من الدراسة وتضييق الفجوة بين ما يدرسه الطلاب في اللغة الانجليزية في المرحلة الثانوية وبين ما يدرسونه في كلية المجتمع ببريدة.
ولقد أسهم البرنامج في انتظام العملية التعليمية بالبرامج الأخرى التي تقدمها كلية المجتمع ببريدة، وكذلك تزويد المعلمين بالمعلومات الكافية عن المستوى الفعلي للطلاب والتعرف على جوانب الضعف والقوة في إتقانهم للمهارات المختلفة في اللغة الانجليزية.
وتوصي الدراسة بتصميم وتعميم برامج مماثلة في تعليم اللغة الانجليزية، وذلك على نطاق أوسع لإتاحة الفرصة لطلاب الجامعة المستجدين لتطوير قدراتهم في تعلم اللغة الانجليزية وتهيئتهم للدراسة في البيئة الجامعية.
Abstract EN
This paper deals with the results of a research project carried out with novice male English language major students studying the Intensive English Language Program at Qassim University.
A total of 105 students and 9 non-native English speaking teachers volunteered to participate in this study which seeks to examine the effectiveness of a proposed Intensive Preparatory Academic Module in preparing novice English major BCC students for the transfer from high school education environment to learning environment in a university setting.
It also aims to identify factors and practices associated with the module effectiveness so that achievements can be replicated and pitfalls would be avoided.
Quantitative and qualitative data were collected through employing evaluation forms, interviews and classroom observations.
Results reveal the effectiveness of the proposed module in achieving regularity of the educational process from the first day of study and bridging between the levels of English language Saudi students have at secondary schools and what Buraydah Community College offers to students joining the English language program.
The study recommends replication of similar modules on a wider scale, so as to provide opportunities for novice university students to develop their EFL learning at the beginning of each academic semester.
